The Dark Knight
July 28, 2008
I had the chance recently to see “The Dark Knight”. It’s the latest of the Batman installments for those of you who live under a rock. Now I’m a bit of a critic when it comes to movies (aren’t we all). And I have pretty high standards when it comes to the criteria that I look for. And one of my pet peeves is “predictability”. This movie was one of the most unpredictable movies I have seen in a long time. It kept my attention the entire 2 1/2 hours!! Of course the late Heath Ledger’s performance was pretty amazing and it stole the entire show. I had to imagine where the movie would have fallen without his performance…and to honest…it wouldn’t have been near as good.
There were of course a few things that I would have done differently if I had been directing the movie (they never called to ask my opinion). I won’t go into detail only to say that Batman needs to either 1. clear whatever is in his throat from dinner or 2. give up smoking. His voice when in character was the most annoying component of the whole movie. Oh well…it was the still highest grossing movie ever, so what do I know.
Part of me hopes that they never make another Batman movie. I say let this one go down as the latest and greatest. Can you say “Home Alone 2″? But another side of me would love to see how they resolve the fact that we never saw what happened to the Joker and unfortunately they killed off two-face. Only time and Hollywood will tell<a
Regular Season 16-3
July 23, 2008
Well we finished the regular season at 16-3. It’s a far cry from last years like 6-10!! Looks like we’ll secure 2nd place and get a good seeding for the tournament. This season has been fun and I’ve enjoyed the guys. Now we just have to win this tournament and maybe beat Central Blue for the icing on the cake.

I’m not really sure how involved the Lord is in the affairs of church league softball. Last night I prayed for divine intervention and I won’t know (if ever) til I get to the other side whether or not it worked. All I know is that last night was one of the coolest wins I’ve ever been apart of. It wasn’t so much the fact that we came from being down 10-2 to win 12-11, it was the way in which we kept our heads up and kept encouraging one another. We went into the bottom of the 7th being down 4 runs and was able to pull it off. My performance wasn’t anything great…but together we all played well as a team. OK…enough…before I start crying.
Big game tonight against Bay Shore Yellow. We need this one in order to give ourselves a chance at a good seeding in the tournament.

Well…I don’t remember a victory any sweeter in my 3 year church league softball career. We came out of the gate like a pig being cattle prodded. I think we scored 8 runs in the top of the first. I hit my second home run of the season off our poor pastor. It was a good night. We may very well see them again in the playoffs. We also beat Dagsboro Church of God the following night 17-9. They played a good game and were great sports. Surprisingly I hit my third home run of the season. I love how I start hitting well with only 3 game left. We’re heading into the last week of the season with a big game tomorrow night against Laurel Nazarene Blue. It’s been a fun season and I’ve enjoyed getting to know the guys. Enough chit chat I’ve got to go practice .
Heartbreaker
July 9, 2008
We had a heartbreaking extra-innings loss to Grace United last night. I’m really proud though of my team…we seem to be getting better at shaking things off. I’ve personally made a commitment to be a better loser and not beat myself up for any little mistakes I make. I just think it’s important to use any situation you can to grow and allow the Lord to show you areas of weakness. And let’s face it…if we never lose then we would never have those opportunities (as much I prefer to win). So we look to Thursday night when we have the chance to avenge our loss and beat the living tar out of our other central worship team. Hey…just because I’m getting better at losing…doesn’t mean I still don’t talk a lot of trash!! Go Grey!!
Randomness

This past week was full of all sorts of stuff. I filled in for Howard Travers on the morning show, I got a cavity filled (only 3 more to go) sang at a friends wedding and helped lead worship at a local church. Not to mention all of the Fourth of July festivities. I have found that just as the weeks fly by, the weekends go even faster.
This is a big week for church league softball. We have three games and on Thursday we will play Central Worship Blue. It should be a good game full of trash talking and hurt feelings…lol.
This coming weekend I’m leading worship at High Tide Church in Roxanna. They meet in the fire hall and God is really doing some cool stuff there. Should be a good time in the Lord.
