Disney Update #4
November 28, 2008
We are nearing the end of our trip. Michelle and I had a great time at Epcot. Yesterday we went to Animal Kingdom and closed the park yet again. I can honestly say that we have made the most of our time in Florida. My favorite attraction at Animal Kingdom would have to be the Safari. Although I wish we would have slowed down a bit so we could’ve had more time to see the animals. I guess he didn’t want to stop so the Lion’s couldn’t eat our faces off.
I also got to see my favorite animal ever…the Llama. This Llama was crazy though, every time you tried to pet it, it would turn it’s neck up. I’ve never met a stuck up Llama before. It was hilarious. I’ll post some video of it soon.
Today we are heading to Downtown Disney to do some shopping. They also have an interactive arcade there as well. Michelle put me in charge of the tickets and I’ve only lost two so far…pretty good huh??
Tomorrow we check out and head for Delaware. Can’t wait to get home!!
Disney Update #3
November 26, 2008
The days all seem to run together and it’s hard to find time to write these. I apologize for the lack of substance in these posts. I’ll write a summary of the trip once it’s all said and done.
Yesterday we went to Magic Kingdom and had a great time. It was so much to take in. I’m not much of a ride person, especially roller coasters!! I decided to be brave and ride “Space Mountain” at the very end of the day. About halfway thru the ride I begin to reflect on my poor decision and then I realize that my six year old son is in the seat in front of me. Oh the irony!
The parade and fireworks were awesome and a great way to end the long day. Today Michelle and I are going to Epcot to spend the day. Should be fun as long as we don’t get lost.
Disney Update #2
November 24, 2008
Yesterday we went to Hollywood Studios and really had a good time. We saw a couple of shows and did a couple of rides. It was very overstimulating. It was neat to go behind the scenes and see how movies were made. I really enjoyed the Indiana Jones Spectacular and Lights, Motors, Action. I won’t reveal any secrets here incase anyone wants to go to Hollywood Studios ever.
The kids did pretty good for being such a long day. We stayed until the park closed. Today is my mother-in-laws birthday and since she is with us in Florida we’ll be going to the Holy Land to celebrate. I’ll update later.
Disney Update #1
November 23, 2008
Well…we finally made it after driving thru the night. We arrived in Florida Friday afternoon and just spent time unwinding by the pool and taking naps. Saturday we were still recovering but decided to venture out in the afternoon. We played a round of miniature golf, which isn’t the best thing if you have impatient kids. It was the most over stimulating round of mini-golf I’ve ever played!! Saturday night we thought we would drop in to see if we could catch a show of Arabian Nights. The show was great. It was there Christmas theme. The whole premise revolves around Arabia and horses. They also served dinner while we watched the show. The kids had a great time.
Today is Sunday and we are headed out to Hollywood Studios. The weather has been great. Should be 75 today. The kids are excited for our first “Park Day”. I’ll post some photos on my flicker site for you to see. You can also visit my facebook for pictures too.
Overview
November 18, 2008
The first two meetings we had went well. Our attendance doubled in the course of one week. Josh and I figure that at this rate we’ll have 300 people at our next meeting!! (kidding) We did have a good time tough.
Josh walked us through the Book of Ruth and shared from Genesis on Tamar and Judah. The take-away was seeing just how God has used dysfunctional and sinful people to establish the line of Christ. Christ didn’t just descend from a pure Israel line as we saw with Ruth and Tamar. God used so-called “pagan people” to have a part in the redemption story. It’s almost a foreshadowing of Gentile conversion in the New Testament.
Our next study will be held Dec. 5th in Laurel at 7pm. We look forward to seeing you then.

Top Ten Christian Albums That Changed My Life
November 12, 2008
In order to move this process along I’ll conclude my list in this post. There are other things on my mind I want to write about so I’ll wrap it up here with little commentary.
#7 – Heaven In The Real World – Steven Curtis Chapman: Great SCC record. I could probably list all of them here if I could.
#6 – The First Decade – Michael W. Smith: More of a greatest hits album but it was my first exposure to his music. You either love and dislove (like that word?) Michael W. Smith. I tend to not focus so much on his singing and more on his music. You know you like “Friends”.
#5 – Addicted To Jesus – Carman: Not only does he have songs I hate to love, but he has whole records I hate to love. This was one of my very first Christian tapes that my Aunt gave me. And it honestly laid a strong foundation (come on, I was like 12).
#4 – Sight Unseen – Petra: Another first in my collection of Christian CD’s.
#3 – Jars of Clay – untitled: This was their very first and best album. I remember buying it on tape at “The Dove” in Seaford, that was before I even heard “Flood” which isn’t even the best song on the album. I remember thinking that these guys were gonna make it. It had all the makings of an indie acoustic album with mainstream potential. I miss these days of Jars of Clay.
#2 – The Great Adventure (Live) – Steven Curtis Chapman: I have a real passion (obsession) for great live recordings. This recording was better back then, then most live Christian recordings are today. Steven demonstrated his ability to connect with an audience while maintaining musical & spiritual integrity. It’s no surprise that he has endured all these years. Steven is the real deal.
#1 – Supernatural – dc Talk: How do you follow up a record like “Jesus Freak”? You simply take some time off to redefine yourself and make “Supernatural”.
So you might say…”looks life nothing has changed your life recently. All of these albums were back in the 90’s. That was when the Lord took control of my life. So it’s during that time when I most influenced by music. Sadly, I feel that the music “isn’t what it used to be” I know that makes me sound old but I think you get what I’m saying. There is still some great Christian music being made, but my foundation is already laid. I find myself listening to mostly praise and worship and 90’s music. So here’s to better days, a dc talk reunion and cheesy christian t-shirts.
Next Meeting
November 12, 2008
Our first meeting was held this past Friday night and things went well. We had a good time in the Word and eating food (food is important). I think I’ll be making calls this week as a reminder to folks. I’ll try to post notes from our meetings as kind of a synopsis of what we study for future use.
Our next meeting is this Saturday the 15th at 7pm in at our home in Laurel, DE. Let me know if you need directions. Thanks
Top Ten Christian Albums That Have Changed My Life
November 11, 2008
#8 – Jesus Freak (1995) – dc Talk: This record not only changed my life, but it changed the face of
Christian music. What now seems to be cliche in the term “Jesus Freak” was at the time a cutting edge movement for closet Christians to come out in force and be cool about it. As with most of these top ten albums, I remember where I was the first time I heard it. The first song I heard was “In The Light” and I played it over and over and over again. Another great album from front to back and one that immortalized dc Talk for the rest of their careers.
